Kerinchi flats gutted by fire

A major fire broke out in a 17-storey apartment complex in Kampung Kerinchi on Thursday afternoon.

6 units on the top floor of the PKNS flats were destroyed in the 4.30pm fire.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel were mobilised to the scene at around 5pm and all the victims were evacuated to safety.

"We received a call at around 4.40 pm where the fire department has already informed about this incident. The follow-up of the information will be announced later" said Deputy Superintendent Azahar Yaacob, who was at the scene.

He added, investigations are currently being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
