KHAIRY: Every citizen had the right to give their views on the government.
As the most popular cabinet minister in the social networking site, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin does not mind if he is being trolled or criticised in the medium.
Khairy, who has nearly 750,000 friends on Facebook and 721,000 followers on Twitter, said he was comfortable using social media to interact directly with the public, especially young people.
He also did not mind missing the 'exclusive gap' as a minister with the people saying he considers the social media as an important stage for him to carry out his duties now.
"The social media is my channel to contact the general public and young people without an intermediary.
"I understand that in the last GE (general election), 80 per cent of young people got their information from the social media. Just shows how effective this medium is for me to interact with them," he said in reply to a question as a guest on Radio 24's 'Dalam Radar' at Wisma Bernama, here, today.
Khairy said he received these views with an open heart because every citizen had the right to give their views on the government.
He added that although the public saw him comfortable and 'enjoying' using the social networking sites, his main priority was the role of youths in the country and upholding Malaysian sports in the eyes of the world.
