The Johor government hopes the discovery of 'new fact' will aid the federal government's claim for Pulau Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca).
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the state government welcomes the efforts made by Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali to reclaim the island.
"I hope this time we will succeed," he told reporters after the ground breaking ceremony for Pasar Muafakat Sabah and the presentation of credentials to Sabah community leaders in Bandar Seri Alam here, today.
In 2008, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands, ruled that Pulau Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca) belonged to Singapore.
Yesterday, Mohamed Apandi in a statement said Malaysia has filed an application for a review of the ICJ judgement on Pulau Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca), Batuan Tengah (Middle Rock) and Tubir Selatan (South Ledge).
The application filed in the ICJ on Thursday followed the discovery of three documents in the national archives of the United Kingdom. --BERNAMA
