Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will take legal action against former Kapar Parliamentary member S. Manikavasagam following the latter's allegation of money politics against him.
This was confirmed in Khalid’s Twitter account on May 13 which stated that he has instructed his lawyer to send a Notice of Claim to Manikavasagam for accusing him of alleged vote-buying.
Last Sunday, Manikavasam a candidate for the Kuala Selangor PKR division chief post said that he had strong evidence of money politics practised by his opponent, Khalid.
Manikavasagam was to go for a straight fight against Abdul Khalid for the Kuala Selangor PKR division chief post.
He claimed that his rival had been distributing up to RM50 per vote and that he has solid evidence of that fact which he will reveal to the public soon.
“I have video evidence (of money politics) and I will upload it soon.
“I have received complaints that voters were offered bribes of RM30 to vote for the candidate running for national post and RM20 for the Kuala Selangor Division Chief.
“I hope the Election Committee will take immediate action,” he said.
Following the statement, Khalid denied his involvement in buying votes to garner support during the PKR voting process.
The PKR vice president candidate however admitted to sponsoring transportation to bring voters to the polling stations.
He also urged any individuals who are not satisfied with his actions to send their complaints to the PKR Committee.
The 2014 PKR Elections on May 11 has been postponed to a later date which is yet to be confirmed following allegations that the voting process has been marred.
