Former Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim welcomes the investigation made with regards to the RM2.6 million compensation and ex-gratia payments to eight former staff and aides of the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI).
This matter was announced by lawyer, Tan Poh Yee of Bon Advocates law firm which represents Abdul Khalid.
Tan said Abdul Khalid will provide his full cooperation during the investigation, including the current investigation done by the Selangor State Audit Department.
Tan explained that it was a common employment practice when an agreement is reached for an early termination of an employee’s contract, an agreed sum is paid as a compensation.
“The quantum that is paid is usually the balance unexpired term of the contract and a discretionary ex-gratia sum for services rendered.
“In this matter, the State Secretary and the Selangor Financial Officer were part of the decision-making process,” said Tan in a statement today.
It was reported that the Selangor government had paid a total of RM2.6 million to the former menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim’s staff and aides before he stepped down.
It was also reported that the biggest amount was given to Faekah Husin, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the state-owned company.
