KIMMA backs single-stream school system
The single-stream school system will be more effective in fostering greater unity among students, says Syed Ibrahim.
The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (KIMMA) is all for a single-stream school system in the country, said its president Senator Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kader.
He said the single-stream school system would be effective in fostering greater unity among students and this in turn would enhance national unity among the different communities.
Syed Ibrahim told this to reporters after attending an Aidiladha 'Korban Perdana' event organised by the Negeri Sembilan KIMMA Liaison Body and the Seremban Indian Muslim Mosque, here, today.
He was responding to a statement by Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid yesterday asking leaders of all the communities in the country to discuss whether there is a need to create a single-stream school.
Mahdzir had said the issue of a single-stream school and its importance to national unity should be considered together by all communities in the country.
On another matter, Syed Ibrahim said KIMMA would be organising a motorcycle convoy which would traverse the country to show support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
"In this regard, KIMMA will stand firmly behind the Barisan Nasional (BN) in any situation. We will continue to be united and make concerted efforts to ensure that the present government (BN) remains to continue to develop the country and look after the welfare of the people, " he added.
