Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah attended the Yaasin reading session and special prayers in conjunction with the official birthday anniversary of the King at the National Mosque, here tonight.
Also gracing the occasion was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
The royal couple was greeted on arrival by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
The Yaasin and tahlil session, which was led by the Grand Imam of the National Mosque, Tan Sri Shaikh Ismail Muhammad, was held after the Maghrib prayers.
About 2,500 Muslims attended the session held at the mosque located in the city centre since 6.30pm.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abd Rahman.
Other dignitaries who were present were Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa, former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and representatives of foreign missions.
Tuanku Abdul Halim, 85, who became the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the second time, was installed on April 11, last year.
He was first installed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1970 when he was 42 years old.
