ZAINOL: Sogo Department Store had lodged a police report against the organisers of the rally
Police have denied giving the organisers of the #KitaLawan rally the green light to continue with their gatherings tomorrow and on March 7.
Dang Wangi police chief, ACP Zainol Samah said the organisers never made any formal application to the police for the gatherings.
“During the meeting this morning, we have informed the organisers that they cannot have their gatherings there because a police report has been lodged by the management of Sogo Department Store.
“We have suggested to the organisers to have their gatherings at a stadium or even Padang Merbok,” Zainol told Astro AWANI when contacted tonight.
He said the suggestion to have the gatherings at the two above-mentioned places was so that security and traffic flow would not be disrupted.
The police therefore urged the public to not attend the rally tomorrow as action can be taken against them for illegal gathering under Section 143 of the Penal Code.
Earlier Friday, it was reported that Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Adam Adli, among the organisers for the #KitaLawan rallies, had said they have received the green light from police to conduct both rallies – tomorrow as well as on March 7.
They had met up with the Dang Wangi police around 10.30am this morning at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, and later gave a statement to the media outside the police station.
