More Rapid KL trains will be deployed this weekend in conjunction with the three-day KL City Grand Prix starting today.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, which operates the Rapid KL LRT and monorail services, will deploy more trains this Saturday and Sunday compared to normal weekend schedules, in conjunction with the three-day KL City Grand Prix starting Friday.
Rapid KL spokesman Lim Jin Aun said racing fans planning to catch the inaugural event this weekend were advised to use public transport, especially the LRT and monorail services, for hassle-free travel around the city.
"For Friday, the LRT and monorail services will run on the normal weekday schedule," he said in a statement yesterday.
Lim said for Rapid KL buses, the operation would be based on the revised routes due to road closures at selected areas to facilitate the KL City Grand Prix.
"Buses that normally travel to Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) will instead stop at the Ampang Park Station before detouring to Jalan Binjai to travel on the revised routes.
"Commuters should be prepared for longer travelling time on the buses in view of the impact from the road closures," he said.
Several sections of roads in the city will be closed to traffic during the inaugural KL City Grand Prix race starting today until Sunday, from 6am to 6pm.
Among the roads involved are Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak and Jalan P. Ramlee.
