The Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic (KKKL), which was built at a cost of RM50 million and based on the 'Family Doctor Concept', begins operation at Jalan Fletcher, today.

The clinic replaces the services of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital's Out-Patient Department and could cater for 800 to 1,000 patients daily.

Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya said the clinic was the first government clinic adopting the 'Family Doctor Concept' in the country.

"(On the concept) A health team would be formed specifically to treat residents in a particular area. The concept will facilitate the doctor in knowing and treating the same patient.

"We divide the area into four zones namely A, B, C and D with four doctors for each zone. The concept also saves time because the same doctor knows the health history of each patient," he said after visiting the KKKL on its first day of operation today.
