Police smashed a drug distribution syndicate with the arrest of five local residents and seizure of about two kilogrammes of a variety of drugs in a raid at two condominiums in Sri Petaling here on Saturday.
According to a statement by Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohd Ali on Tuesday, the syndicate was believed to be actively trafficking drugs at entertainment centres in the federal capital and its surrounding areas.
In the first raid, police detained two men and two women aged between 22 and 27 and seized various types of drugs such as ketamine, ecstasy, eramin and drug powder.
In the second raid, a 27-year-old man was held and ecstasy, eramin and drug powder seized.
Abdul Hamid said police were still investigating their drug trafficking network and sources for the drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. -- Bernama
