The announcement by the authorities that the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) is free of toxic substances has given confidence to passengers and other users, says Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali.
He said the outcome of the airport sweep had given them such confidence without having to worry about contamination.
He added the airport staff who helped North Korean Kim Jong-nam who was murdered after his face was daubed with a lethal chemical, 'VX' nerve agent at klia2 on Feb 13, had gone through health checks and given a clean bill of health.
Badlisham was speaking to reporters at the inaugural ceremony involving the Cathay Dragon flight from Hong Kong at KLIA here Wednesday.
Kuala Lumpur is Cathay Dragon's third destination in Malaysia, after Penang and Kota Kinabalu.
The airline flies twice daily between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur and will increase its frequency to four flights daily, beginning May.
On Sunday, Selangor police chief Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said klia2 was declared safe and free from any trace of the 'VX' nerve agent following the murder of Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un. -- Bernama
