Koenigsegg is planning to crash a few of their brand new Regera
I'm going to bet that your heart just skipped a few beats, but there is no stopping Koenigsegg from boxing up a few Regeras and sending it off for “demolition”. But look at it this way, Koenigsegg is doing in an effort to make the Regera a proper road running car.
First, calm your hearts, Koenigsegg has confirmed that they have not yet chosen a Regera candidate to place in the crate but the crash testing is a process that all big car companies has to endure in order to make their cars road legal. The company will also be posting updates about the crash tests as the process goes along in the weeks to come.
Koenigsegg’s Regera is set to rein the plug-in hybrid supercar segment for Koenigsegg. The brand unveiled the Regera at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and only 80 units will be built each for a cost of approximately $1.9million. This is also the first time the Koenigsegg will be producing two models simultaneously.
The Regera houses an ICE based on the reliable Koenigsegg drysumped twin-turb, DOHC, 5.0-litre V8 combined with a hybrid motor system the Regera produces an output way over 1500bhp and over 2000Nm of torque. The car also boasts systems like active front and rear wings, chassis control and lifting system and more to make it the first fully robotized car with the world’s first fully foldable active top-mounted rear wing.
