KUALA LUMPUR: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) enforcement operation against the sale of counterfeit goods will be stepped up during the festive season, said its deputy minister Datuk Rosol Wahid.
He said, despite the focus on the implementation of the 2021 Festive Season Maximum Prices Control Scheme (SHMMP), enforcement operation against selling counterfeit goods are still being carried out.
The operation and inspection against the sale of counterfeit goods are not only focused at the wholesale and business areas such as Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) and Jalan Petaling, but also at boutiques, he added.
‘’The operation will also be conducted at all levels including suppliers and retailers based on intelligence and public complaints.
‘’For example, we find some boutiques selling counterfeit goods at the original prices and this is an offence for cheating consumers,’’ he told reporters after launching the programme Advocating Smart Consumers and #ShoppingstreetJalanTAR, here, today.
Commenting on the programme, he said Jalan TAR was picked because it is the location of focus or shopping heaven for the local community especially during the festive seasons.
Rosol said the programme could simultaneously highlight and promote further the diversity of products and items being sold at Jalan TAR.
