KPWKM launches 2021-2025 strategic plan based on 8 thrusts

PUTRAJAYA: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) today launched its 2021-2025 Strategic Plan which contains eight main thrusts including plans to empower women and strengthen the family institution.
Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said the other thrusts include plans to protect and develop children, improve and create a more conducive environment for the elderly, empower people with disabilities (PwD), develop and increase the resilience of special groups, boost the country's visibility internationally and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery.
"This strategic plan will be the main reference to set the direction to improve services provided by KPWKM in every policy formulation, development and planning of programmes and activities for the people," read a KPWKM statement in conjunction with One-Year Malaysia Prihatin.
According to the ministry almost 3,300 Social Welfare Department (JKM) staff have been deployed to distribute one million food baskets nationwide for the benefit of over four million people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (PKP) implementation.
KPWKM said it was also committed to helping the needy and would take proactive and aggressive steps to enable recipients of financial assistance to get out of the shackles of poverty and thereafter increase the effectiveness of government aid programmes.
To further assist the people, through the Kembara Prihatin Negara (KPN) programme, JKM has up to March 8, organised 789 programmes in 124 districts involving various government agencies, 145 non-governmental organisations, 57 corporate companies with the help of 1,767 volunteers.
Through KPN, the ministry managed to resolve I0,605 complaints and has attended to 141,159 clients, said the statement.
