The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) is prepared to collaborate with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to inculcate road safety practices among members of family institutions.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the move aimed to reduce the fatality rate due to road accidents.
The collaboration could be carried out through the ministry's family programmes under the National Blue Ocean Strategy next year.
We can include the 'Drive Safely' practices in the courses organised by the ministry to remind the people on the importance of such practices when driving on the road and not to be emotional while driving," she said.
She said this when closing the One Community One JPJ (SKSJ) Beladin, here on Sunday.
The programme organised by the Sarawak JPJ was participated by 510 individuals comprising residents in the Beladin district and the surrounding areas who had succeeded in obtaining the Class B2 driving licence after passing all the tests.
Among those present at the event were the JPJ Vehicle Licensing Director, Datuk Che Ab Rahim Che Daud and the Sarawak JPJ Director, Ibrahim Othman.
The total number of fatality in the country this year has reached 6,674 out of the total of 476,196 accident cases recorded.
