Kulai five-vehicle pile up causes 18-kilometre traffic havoc

A female passenger of an express bus and a trailer driver sustained minor injuries in a five-vehicle pile up at KM30.6 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) near Kulai here today.
Kulai police chief Supt Razak Md Said said the accident occurred approximately two kilometres from the Kulai toll plaza at about 3pm during heavy rain.
"Based on the initial report, the bus, carrying 28 passengers, was heading from Johor Bahru to Melaka. The accident caused the express bus to skid to the left side of the road.
"Other vehicles involved were a trailer, a three-tonne lorry, a Mazda car and a Toyota Innova," he said when contacted here today.
Razak also said the accident caused traffic congestion for about 18 kilometres.
He said investigation into the cause of the incident was still underway.
The two victims were sent to the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for treatment. -- BERNAMA
