MIC secretary-general Datuk G. Kumar Aaman, who had been on a hunger strike since yesterday, agreed to end it after being requested to do so by party president, Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.
"Even though it was his personal decision, I have now requested him to end the hunger strike for the sake of MIC and Barisan Nasional's image," said Palanivel in a statement Friday.
He said he is currently dealing with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) on the matter and also the validity of Kumar Aaman's appointment as the party's sec-gen.
Kumar Aaman went on a hunger strike after failing to meet any representatives from the RoS, and continued his actions until today.
When met by reporters outside the RoS office, Kumar Aaman, who was represented by his lawyer R.T. Rajasegaran, had refused comments.
It was reported that Kumar Aaman will also submit a letter to Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, with the contents of the letter to include his mistrust against RoS staff and the re-investigation of MIC party elections.
