The Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) community has been urged to remain united to ensure that Pesta Kaamatan (Harvest Festival) remained relevant.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the festival was an avenue for the people of different races and religious beliefs in the state to appreciate one another's cultures and strengthen unity.
Meanwhile, he also said as Member of Parliament for Pensiangan, he made sure that various facilities were provided for the development and well-being of the people, particularly those living in the rural areas.
"It is to fulfill my pledge to the people who had chosen me to be their representative and that of Barisan Nasional which did not want the demands of the people to be ignored," he said while launching the village-level Pesta Kaamatan in Kampung Mansiat Sook near here, Monday.
Kurup also urged Village Development and Security Committees to play an effective role in the government's effort to empower the economy of the residents.
