Labourer charged with killing stepson

A labourer was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today for the alleged murder of his five-year-old stepson.

Rosmanan Abd Rahman, 38, was charged with allegedly killing Muhammad Hairil Amsyar Abdul Rahman at 218, Felda Tenang, Pasir Akar, Besut at 3.30am on June 28.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for a death sentence.

No plea was recorded and the accused only nodded his head to show he understood the charge which was read out by the court interpreter.

Magistrate Tuan Ruzaini Tuan Lah fixed Aug 16, for re-mention of the case at the Besut Court.

The prosecution was led Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Zafirah Rosli while the accused was not represented.
