A labourer was slashed to death by a group of men during a fight at an Indian cemetery in Lorong Sharif, Jalan Langgar, here, Friday night.
Mohd Najib Bakar, 37, who suffered severe injuries to his head, neck and both legs during the 7.30pm incident, died while on the way to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in an ambulance.
Kota Setar police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan said police were informed of the incident by members of the public and arrived at the scene, only to see the victim in a pool of blood.
Adzaman said police were carrying out investigations to find the suspects involved in the incident and the cause of the fight.
"The victim has two previous criminal records, both for involvement in narcotics, back in 2007 and 2008," he said when contacted, here, today.
Adzaman said the case has been classified as murder and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
