Labuan Water Dept 'doing tie-in' to ensure water supply back to normal

Labuan Water Department (JBA) director Alvin Michael Lo said the temporary water disruption was caused by a burst main pipeline at the Pulau Enoe and major repair works were being carried out.

"The main pumping lines with a diameter of 800mm at Pulau Enoe burst and affected water supply to the two service tanks at Pohon Batu (which are for consumers in 10 villages) and our technicians are doing the 'tie-in' to fix the burst pipe, as such, during the 12-hour daily repair works, the entire island will face water disruption," he said at a press conference here today.

He said to minimise the inconvenience to consumers, his department with the cooperation of Labuan Fire and Rescue Department, Labuan Corporation, and Labuan Parliamentary Constituency Community Service Office would channel water supply to all villages, residential areas and provide static water tanks in worst-affected areas, surau and community halls in villages.

"Water tankers continue to be mobilised for emergency water supplies to consumers who still do not have water supply. Restoring customers' supply has been our first priority," he said.

At least 10 villages, more than 2,000 students at the Labuan Matriculation College (LMC), a number of buildings and offices have been affected by the disrupted water supply since the middle of December last year.
