The largest underground water source in the country has been found in Kampung Sungai Jagung here.
Kedah state executive councillor Datuk Suraya Yaacob said it could supply 35,000 gallons of water an hour which could cater to the needs of 16,000 consumers.
She said the capacity was far bigger than other such such sources which could only deliver 1,000 to 3,000 gallons of water an hour.
"The state government will find a way to channel the water through tubes to areas in Kedah which face low water pressure problems," she told reporters after making a visit to the underground source Wednesday.
Suraya, who is also Sungai Tiang assemblyman, added that similar water sources had also been found in Pokok Sena and Padang Terap.
