Last six of stranded survey staff on Gunung Gagau rescued

The remaining six of 27 people stranded on Gunung Gagau in Tasik Kenyir during a survey and mapping exercise were rescued today, according to the Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department.
Its deputy director, Nor Mahathir Mohammad, said the six staff of the Survey and Mapping Department were brought to Pengkalan Gawi at 9.15am.
The six, aged between 20 and 50, were found by the search-and-rescue team at about 6pm yesterday in a state of exhaustion at a camping site in Sungai Chicir, he told Bernama.
"The condition of the six and the weather forced them to spend another night there," he said, adding that their food supplies ran out yesterday.
The 19 other people, among them four General Operations Force personnel, were rescued yesterday.
