KUALA LUMPUR: The following are the updates on COVID-19 figures in Malaysia and selected countries across the world as at 10 am today.
Data provided by John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre indicate globally as of Tuesday there have been 173,887,864 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,744,378 deaths.
A total of 2,176,376,755 vaccine doses have been administered globally till June 8.
The United States, India and Brazil remain the top three nations with highest number of positive cases and fatalities. However, countries like the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK) and others have been reporting a slowdown in new cases in line with the rising vaccination numbers.
Malaysia has ramped up its vaccination drive and is among the fastest in ASEAN in administering the first vaccine dose. Malaysia has been etching new daily records when it administered 151,309 vaccine jabs on Tuesday, the highest in a single day. So far 3,790,121 doses of vaccine have been adminstered.
Malaysia's northern neighbour Thailand has also ramped up its vaccination drive since Monday and so far a total of 4.63 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine.
The table below also indicates the status of some ASEAN nations including Malaysia as of June 6 as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and the vaccination process moves into high gear.
