Latest count of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia and selected countries

Data provided by John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre indicate globally there have been 174,327,080 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 3,758,124 deaths.

A total of 2,212,661,914 vaccine doses have been administered globally so far.

The United States (US), India and Brazil remain the top three nations with highest number of positive cases and fatalities. However, the US, the United Kingdom (UK) and others have been reporting a slowdown in new cases in tandem with rising vaccination numbers.

Malaysia has been etching new daily record in vaccination with 154,866 vaccine jabs administered on Wednesday. So far 3,944,987 doses of vaccine have been administered with 2,724,048 receiving their first dose while 1,220,939 receiving their second dose.

Malaysia's northern neighbour Thailand has also ramped up its vaccination drive since Monday and so far a total of 4.63 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine.

The table below also indicates the status of some ASEAN nations including Malaysia as of June 6 as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and the vaccination process moves into high gear.
