Lawyer applies to declare PKNS assets transfer proposal null and void
A lawyer filed an application to declare as null and void Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and the Selangor State Development Corporation's (PKNS) proposal to transfer five PKNS assets to its wholly owned subsidiary, Private Real Estate Company (PREC).
The plaintiff, Kamarudin Ahmad, a partner in law firm Messrs Kamarudin & Partners located in the Shah Alam PKNS Complex, filed the application at the High Court registrar's office, today.
The five assets concerned were the Shah Alam and Bangi PKNS Complexes, Shah Alam Convention Centre, Menara PKNS in Petaling Jaya and Wisma Yakin at Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur.
In his statement of claim, the plaintiff claimed that on Oct 31 an Utusan Malaysia report quoted PKNS Public Relations Manager, Ishak Hashim as saying the five assets would be transferred to PREC in order to manage the assets more efficiently.
He also claimed that the transfer of the assets would cause PKNS to lose the assets which were utilised as locations for Malay and Bumiputera businesses and jeopardise its role as the agency which implements the federal government's policies as contained in Section 8C and 11 (d) of the Selangor State Development Corporation Enactment 1964.
