Lecturer remanded for alleged corruption

A lecturer at a teacher's training institute was detained and a three-day remand order obtained from the Magistrate's Court here to facilitate investigations into alleged corruption.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Emysuriana Muhammad Subry while the lecturer was represented by Datuk Hanif Hassan.
The lecturer, a woman in her 50s, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last night at a restaurant in Sikamat here.
Negeri Sembilan MACC director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob when contacted said the arrest was made under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009, which carries a jail term not exceeding 20 years and fine amounting to five times the bribe amount.
