A teenager who was warded on Tuesday for Leptospirosis, is still in critical condition but showing positive development said Kedah Health Department director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail.

He said Fahmi Abdul Razak, 15, was still at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here, since he was admitted due to fever last week.

"Fahmi is still being treated at the ICU and is still critical but his development is positive, the result of treatment and monitoring by medical specialist at HSB," he said in a statement, here, today.

Prior to this, Fahmi, from Kampung Kubu, Kuala Nerang, was taken to the Kuala Nerang Hospital on Monday night because his eyes had turned yellow. He was then sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital at 2.30pm on Tuesday and was diagnosed with Leptospirosis.

It is understood that Fahmi and several of his friends had gone to bathe and to wash their motorcycles at Sungai Perik, Kampung Perik, Kuala Nerang.
