KUALA LUMPUR:Letters from party leaders showed that Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can prove that he has the support of the majority of MPs (Members of Parliament), said Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

Mahfuz said when Anwar showed the support he has through the letters of the party leaders, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, on the other hand, only left it to the discretionary power of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to decide.

"Muhyiddin should submit a list of MPs who support him if he is confident of still gaining the support of the majority.

"Would Muhyiddin dare to get statutory declarations from the MPs to prove their support for him?" he told Astro AWANI, here today, when commenting on Istana Negara's statement on Al-Sultan Abdullah's meeting with Anwar on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, commenting on the government's efforts in tackling COVID-19, Mahfuz described Muhyiddin as having failed to prepare for the pandemic, especially in driving the country's economy in the new norm phase.

On Tuesday, Istana Negara informed that Anwar did not submit to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong the list of more than 120 MPs whom he claimed supported him to form a new government with a strong and convincing majority.

On the other hand, the PKR president only submitted the number of those who supported him in the meeting which lasted about 25 minutes.
