The Selangor Government will ensure that all local authorities in the state appoint trained organisers who met all requirements to handle fireworks displays.
Local Government, New Village Development and Legalising of Factories Committee chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah said the state government took the fireworks explosion incident seriously.
Early Sunday morning, a total of 14 people - 10 adults and four children - were injured when they were hit by fragments of fireworks when it exploded on the ground at the Pandamaran Sports Complex during a new year celebration.
"The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has been ordered to conduct a transparent internal investigation to determine the cause of or party responsible for the accident.
"Disciplinary or legal action would be taken against those found to have been responsible for the slip-up," he said in a statement today.
MPK was the organiser of the Gegar Klang Fiesta from Dec 30 to Jan 1.
South Klang District Police chief ACP Alzafny Ahmad, when contacted, said police were still investigating the incident. - BERNAMA
