LOKA Malaysia Grand Launch
Yesterday we attended LOKA Malaysia’s grand launch! What is LOKA you might ask? It’s the region first ever outlet selling exclusive home-grown Malaysian lifestyle brands housed in a spanking new 7,300 square feet outlet in NU Sentral Kuala Lumpur.
Present to officiate the event was YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar Bin Abdullah, Secretary General, Ministry of Finance. It was a very proud moment for all present, as the creative entrepreneurs and designers revealed the outlet teaming with local offerings that showcased the quality, innovation and finesse of Malaysian lifestyle brands. The concept store was established to create opportunities for Malaysian lifestyle brands to compete and showcase their capabilities alongside international names.
The idea is to see the next generation of Malaysia’s creative entrepreneurs flourish and catapult their brands to international standards. It’s a great way to build an epicentre of local talent and influence in retail. LOKA has been opened for business since December 2015 and has garnered its own fan base with a target audience of individuals in the 20s to 30s age group. LOKA offers 38 trendy, eclectic and stylish brands but has plans to grow that number even further.
As for the brands offered, we noticed the fashion labels presented predominantly streetwear but there are also accessories, children’s wear, bath & body, art, home & living, night wear and even fitness. Brands that stood out were particularly prominent “hipster” brand Pestle & Mortar, Tarik Jeans (we noticed some really cool varsity and denim jackets), Ash Be Nimble (local sportswear brand), Stoned & Co (urban streetwear), Josh Lee Fragrances (Penang perfumer with diverse scents), Mimpi Matamoon (products made using ethnic/traditional fabrics), Tiny Forest by Yuna (for all terrarium lovers), Sanctuary (charming scented candles), Kooshboo (trendy children’s clothing brand), Misfit (perfumes for the young adventurous type) and more.
LOKA is a great fashion/lifestyle terminus for a shopper who loves diversity and wants to support local talents, at reasonable prices.
