London Fashion Week SS16 Major Hits
London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016 has come to an end; one of the most highly anticipated shows was Burberry which did not dishearten with its English lace and floor-length satin dresses paired with leather biker jackets. Here are some of the highlights from the shows in London:
Burberry Prorsum’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection had small jabs of colour with plunging necklines and intricate lace beadwork. A highpoint would be the lattice cutout ankle boots, the monogram backpacks and contrast piping at the edge of the heels and on jacket edges. The collection also underlined tasselled loafers, sheer dresses, military jackets and lacy tops with black and gold chain details. A slip dress with sporty flats and a rucksack is a fresh and relaxed combination for Spring!
JW Anderson delivered abstract conceptions and garments evocative of ‘80s lassies for their Spring/Summer 2016 collection which featured massive, inflated leg-of-mutton sleeves. For footwear, JW Anderson emphasised square-toed shoes, pumps, heeled oxfords and leather ankle boots worn with ensembles that carried a bralette theme throughout and voluminous frocks.
Hill & Friends is the new accessories label set up by Mulberry’s former creative director Emma Hill & Georgia Fendley. The fashion show was carried out at Claridge’s Hotel, mixing extravagance and cartoonish irreverence. The bags featured padlocks and Hill & Friends smiley face designs. Male models dressed as bellboys and walked down the runway towing along adorable miniature ponies.
Anya Hindmarch gave us a look into her ultramodern fun house with her Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Featuring graphic designs, diamond patterns, chevrons and rainbows, the pieces were fun and eye-catching with stripes motifs and rectangular prints. The clothes echoed the geometric patterns on the bags, giving the collection a cohesive look.
