All long-distance express bus operations at the Pudu Sentral terminal here have been relocated to the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Bandar Tasik Selatan, effective today.
The 545 northbound express buses at Pudu Sentral have been directed by The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to abide by the directive to move their operations out of the city.
During Astro AWANI's visit to the bus terminal, several ticket counters there were no longer in operation while SPAD enforcement officers were seen monitoring the area from 8am to ensure all bus operators comply with the transfer instruction.
SPAD's group operations chief Abdul Halim Hussain said only short distance buses will continue to operate at Pudu Sentral.
This includes the journey from Pudu Sentral to Tanjung Malim, Seremban and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
“With this move, we expect to reduce traffic in the Pudu Sentral and give an opportunity for people to do their businesses at UTC."
"We are aware that Pudu Sentral had been changed to UTC to offer a more comfortable surrounding to the people,” Abdul Halim said.
He added that SPAD will continue to closely monitor the areas near Pudu Sentral to curb ticket touts and reduce traffic congestion.
