ZAINUDDIN: Delivering a seditious speech can trigger racial conflict and jeopardise public order in the country.
Six more individuals were arrested Tuesday to facilitate investigations into the mobile phone theft case and the fight that occurred at Low Yat Plaza last Saturday, bringing the total to 25.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the six suspects aged between 19 and 43.
"The first man, aged 43, was arrested at 11.30am. He was believed to be involved in delivering a seditious speech in front of the plaza on Sunday.
"This (act) could trigger racial conflict and jeopardise public order in the country," he said in a statement here.
Zainuddin said the man would be investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
He said five other individuals nabbed today comprised a 22-year-old Felda auxiliary police constable, who was nabbed at 1pm at Jalan Persiaran KLCC, and four mobile phone salesmen who were picked up at the plaza at 4pm.
"All the five suspects were involved in the fight and will be investigated under Section 147 and 427 of the Penal Code," he said.
