A 22-year-old unemployed man Shahrul Anuar Abdul Aziz pleaded not guilty to stealing a smartphone at Low Yat plaza on Saturday.
He claimed trial at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate Court, Jalan Duta, Tuesday and was released on RM3,000 bail.
The alleged theft sparked a brawl at Low Yat plaza on Saturday, which escalated into mob violence early Monday morning.
Judge Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor set August 14 for trial hearing.
Shahrul Anuar was remanded since Saturday.
He had earlier pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to him twice but changed his plea to not guilty after the charge was read out to him the third time.
