Prasarana Malaysia Berhad today reassured motorists today that its LRT Line Extension Project pier at Federal Highway near Subang Jaya was physically safe and stable.
It said the contractors of project were conducting preparatory works for the lifting of segmental box girders which was scheduled to be conducted late Saturday when they noticed an anomaly on the gantry crane of the pier in the afternoon.
A decision was then made to bring the gantry crane down as soon as possible in the interest of public safety, and traffic was temporarily diverted for the gantry crane to be brought down safely.
After inspections were made, the road was reopened and traffic along the Federal Highway resumed to normal by 8pm.
“The pier of the LRT Line Extension Project at the Federal Highway is physically safe and stable and the Federal Highway is open to traffic, contrary to the photos and messages that have been circulating in the social media,” Prasarana executive vice-president group communications and strategic marketing Lim Jin Aun said in a statement today.
Social media was abuzz yesterday with photographs of a “tilting” LRT beam along the busy stretch of road.

Meanwhile, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) issued a statement today denying the incident is associated to its Sungai Buloh - Kajang (SBK) Line of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) project.
"The SBK Line does not pass through Subang Jaya or the Federal Highway, and therefore the incident is in no way associated with the SBK Line or the KVMRT project."
"While we understand the concerns of the public, we urge everyone to be responsible in spreading news without verified information," the statement said.
