The Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) has initiated legal action against Rafizi Ramli regarding the allegation made by the PKR secretary-general against LTAT.
Its chairman, Admiral (rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor said : "It is clear that the claims made by Rafizi are slanderous and motivated by malicious intent, with a view to impact the good reputation and credibility of LTAT.
"It is again stressed that there is no truth in the allegations by Rafizi, and LTAT has initiated legal action against him," he said in a statement here, today.
Among the allegations by Rafizi concerned the payment of gratuity to LTAT depositors.
Mohd Anwar said it was illogical for Rafizi to compare the total of the gratuity payment made throughout the year with the balance of cash at the end of 2014.
"Throughout the year 2014, LTAT had made subscription withdrawal payments totalling RM982.9 million to contributors who had completed their services with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM)," he said.
In this regard he said the year-end balance for 2014 amounting to RM561.5 million was the balance after LTAT had made all payments including payments to contributors who withdrew their contributions throughout the year.
In addition, Mohd Anwar said the LTAT had also received and checked the list of 110 contributors from Rafizi who claimed that they did not receive their gratuity payment.
Of the total, Mohd Anwar said the LTAT had made payments to 70 contributors; failure to confirm the thumb print and contributor had been contacted (one); the documents received from the Salary Division of the Armed Forces (UGAT) Ministry of Defence on April 4 2016 (23 contributors) and documents had yet to be received from UGAT (16 contributors).
Mohd Anwar said the LTAT accounts were audited by the National Audit Department and tabled in Parliament.
