Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) has been closed due to a suspected sinkhole in the runway since yesterday evening.
Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) has been closed due to a suspected sinkhole in the runway since yesterday evening.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) said today, to ensure safety of flight operation, the runway was closed for 24 hours starting 6.40 pm.
"During our regular inspection, we had detected distress to the runway caused by a suspected sinkhole. Our technical team was immediately deployed to the site for a preliminary assessment.
"All airlines have been notified of this closure and a total of 12 flights form Malindo Air, Tigerair and Firefly will be affected," MAHB said in a statement posted in its twitter.
In this regard, MAHB said passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines on their flight schedule.
"We regret any inconvenience caused and further updates will be provided once a full assessment is done and rectification works are completed," it added.
