Lubuk Timah Hotspring upgraded to first class tourism centre

The Tourism and Culture Ministry is upgrading several infrastructures at the Lubuk Timah Hotspring recreational centre, Simpang Pulai here, towards making it a first class tourism centre.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said the ministry would help to upgrade the 900 metre road leading to the centre, provide electricity supply and build more chalets there.

He said there were currently seven chalets at the centre.

"The road to the centre place has not been tarred and will be muddy when it rains, and dusty during the hot season," he told reporters after a working visit to the centre, Sunday.

Mohamed Nazri said the ministry would discuss with the parties involved on work to upgrade the centre.

We want the upgrading work to be ready before Visit Perak Year 2017, he added.

Mohamed Nazri said efforts would be made through Perak Tourism to further promote the centre as a tourist destination.

"The location of the recreational centre is strategic because it is on the way to Cameron Highlands. Visitors going to Cameron Highlands can stop at Lubuk Timah Hotspring on the way," he said.

Meanwhile, managing director of Lubuk Timah Hotspring Fadzil Akhma Mohd Yusoff said the centre is opened to the public at a fee RM3 per person for adults and RM1.50 for children.
