MACC arrests three more ZPP officers over probe on embezzlement of tithe money

The three ZPP officers aged between 33 and 49 years, were arrested at about 4.30 pm today at the ZPP office.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested three more Penang Zakat Centre (ZPP) officers to facilitate investigation into cases involving the embezzlement of tithe money.
Penang MACC director Datuk Abd Aziz Aban said in a statement here, the three ZPP officers aged between 33 and 49 years, were arrested at about 4.30 pm today at the ZPP office.
"The MACC also summoned three other ZPP officers and two individuals, a businessman and a contractor, to record their statement," he added.
Previously, Penang MACC arrested 12 suspects, including a senior ZPP officer, three ZPP officers and eight contractors, aged between 41 and 52 years old.
Two ZPP officers were released on bail of RM10,000 each while eight contractors were released on bail of RM5,000 each.
Meanwhile, the remand period for the senior ZPP officer and another ZPP officer were extended another four days from today.
