The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today detained a civil servant for allegedly receiving bribes amounting to RM1,290.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the 37-year-old civil servant was arrested in a 'trap operation' in a building in the city centre at about 10.46 am.
"The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a woman, aged 50, who claimed to have been contacted by the civil servant concerned on January 9.
"According to the complainant, the civil servant had demanded for RM1,290 as an inducement to process the Interim Stage Bus Support Fund," he said in a statement.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. - BERNAMA
