MACC freezes RM23 million, 240 bank accounts in naval procurement case

Some RM23 million in savings and 240 bank accounts have been frozen as part of the investigations involving the supply of goods and equipment to the Royal Malaysian Navy recently. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) investigation division director Datuk Mohd Jamidan Abdullah said besides that, more than RM200,000 in cash was seized, and 13 cars, including a Lamborghini were also confiscated. "MACC also seized a number of luxury brand watches such as Louis Vuitton, Patek Philippe, Tag Heuer and Frederique Constant," he said in a statement here today. In the meantime, Mohd Jamidan confirmed that a total of 16 people, including six members of the navy were detained on March 9 and 11 to facilitate investigations. "All 16 were released after being detained for seven to 10 days," he said, adding that investigations were ongoing.
