The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) special operations division director, Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin has stressed, his office had nothing to do with the purported leak of documents in relation to the investigation on SRC International Sdn Bhd, an entity owned by 1MDB.

He said, the leaked documents were reproduced by certain quarters.

“I’m very confident it had not come from us and it was reproduced.

“I’m saddened by this event as we had done our best in the investigations in the search of the truth,” he told to reporters after giving his statement to the police regarding the matter here today.

The case is being investigated under Section 124B of the Penal Code.

The senior MACC officer was also baffled after police hauled up the commission’s Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) on Saturday.

“Suddenly our Deputy Public Prosecutor was detained at 1am. I’m baffled at how this could have happened. This is madness and I feel someone had forced the police to do so,” he said.

At the same time, Bahri had denied he would be asked to take leave from his duties.

Earlier Bahri had been questioned for two hours by police from Bukit Aman at the MACC headquarters in relation to the purported leak of documents.

Police had also questioned the commission’s forensics division director Datuk IG Chandran at the MACC Academy at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.

On Saturday, the police had searched DPP Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi’s office for documents relating to 1MDB.

Ahmad Sazilee, who is on loan from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, was among three individuals detained early Saturday to assist in investigations regarding several police reports lodged against Sarawak Report editor, Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

All three were released later that evening.
