The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) had issued an arrest warrant for Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng today, said Penang exco member Dr Afif Bahardin.
The state's Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman said Lim would be taken to the MACC office soon.
MACC officers arrived at Lim's office in Komtar while he was chairing a state exco meeting.
On June 6, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said the investigation papers relating to Lim's bungalow probe has been returned to the MACC for further action.
“After going through the statements submitted in the investigation papers, the AG’s Chambers noted that several actions must be taken to complete the probe,” he said.
The investigation papers were handed over by MACC on May 26, 2016.
The purchase of the bungalow for RM2.8 million became a controversy after Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya disclosed in the Dewan Rakyat that the price was below the market value.
It was also claimed that the purchase was connected to the state government's sale of the land in Taman Manggis that had been reserved for a housing project for the poor.
The MACC on May 22, had raided Lim's residence in Jalan Pinhorn, Georgetown.
