MACC ready to investigate Abdul Khalid for any alleged misconduct

The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is ready to investigate Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for any allegations of misconduct.

Its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said the case, however, will be handed over to MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull for a review.

“My job is to investigate all cases. We will look into any complaint we receive. If it involves corruption, we will investigate the matter,” he told a press conference before meeting with members of the Special Committee on Corruption at the Dewan Negara President’s office in Parliament today.

The Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office had recently called on the MACC to investigate Abdul Khalid of administrative misconduct as alleged by PKR.

Several of his office assistants had also submitted PKR reports of the alleged misconduct to the MACC.

Abdul Khalid’s chief private secretary, Mohd Yazid Dugan, however, declined to elaborate on the matter.

“I’m an officer in the MB’s office and it is my responsibility to get to the bottom of it, that’s all I can say,” he explained.

A day before they lodged a report with the MACC, PKR had submitted a 24-page report which had listed six reasons to convince PAS and DAP on why Abdul Khalid should be removed from office.

Abdul Khalid, on Saturday, had been expelled from PKR as a lifetime member effective immediately.

Remaining optimistic despite being an independent assemblyman, Abdul Khalid said he would remain as MB and could still administer Selangor with at least four executive councillors.
