MACC ready to work with police in Justo case
AZAM: The police should be given room to conduct their investigation into the case.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said today it is prepared to cooperate with the police in the investigation into statements made by former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo if there is a need to.
MACC investigations division director Datuk Azam Baki said the police could go ahead with the investigation if they came across elements of corruption in the case because they also had the authority to probe corruption cases.
"However, if the police feel that the case should be investigated by the MACC, the commission is prepared to work with the police and seek their assistance to get evidence from Justo now being held in Thailand," he said in a statement.
Azam said the police should be given room to conduct their investigation into the case.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police had started their investigation.
