The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded statements from the director of a federal government agency in Labuan and two contractors who were detained Monday on suspicion of abusing power and accepting bribe.
According to source, the statements were recorded at the Labuan MACC branch at around noon on Tuesday.
"So far, the MACC has recorded statements from all the suspects to assist in the investigation into the alleged corruption in the construction of RM12 million food court in Tanjung Purun, Labuan.
"The MACC is currently analysing all documents related to the case," he told Bernama.
All of the suspects are being held under remand for seven days beginning Tuesday.
On Monday, the 59-year-old director was arrested at the Putrajaya MACC head office at 11.50 am while the contractors, in their 40s, were nabbed at the Labuan MACC office at 6.30 pm.
The MACC had also frozen 12 bank accounts of the director amounting to RM889,000 believed to be part of the millions of ringgit allegedly garnered through corruption.
