The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Road Transport Department (RTD) in an effort to combat corruption and abuse of power there .

MACC deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil said the collaboration began in 2000 as an initiative to gain the commitment of the RTD's top management in supporting the efforts to combat corruption.

"This latest effort involves the sharing of expertise in detection, information dissemination, consultation, education and training to enhance the integrity of MACC and RTD officers to fight corruption.

"Among the steps taken is the collaboration between MACC and RTD in the Clone Ops and the Corporate Integrity Pledge by driving institutes," he said in a statement today.

The MoU signing ceremony yesterday was followed by a Corruption-Free Pledge led by RTD director-general Datuk Seri Nadzri Siron.
