MACC Special Operations deputy director hauled up over 1MDB probe

Police have called up Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Special Operation Division deputy director, Datuk Tan Kang Sai to assist into the investigations on the alleged leak of information in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) probe.

MACC Strategic Communications Division director, Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob confirmed the matter, saying that Tan's statements would be recorded at about 3pm today.

"He (Tan) will have his statements taken today," said Rohaizad as quoted in the media on Wednesday.

Tan is the seventh MACC officer summoned to have his statement taken after two other officers from the same division had been called up yesterday.

On Saturday, police hauled up the MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairy regarding the purported leak of documents in relation to the investigation on SRC International Sdn Bhd, an entity owned by 1MDB.

Its Special Operations Division Director, Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin, however stressed that his office had nothing to do with the leak.

Earlier, Bahri was questioned for two hours by police from Bukit Aman at the MACC headquarters in relation to the purported leak of documents.

Police had also questioned the commission’s forensics division director Datuk IG Chandran at the MACC Academy at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.

On Saturday, the police had searched DPP Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi’s office for documents relating to 1MDB.

Ahmad Sazilee, who is on loan from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, was among three individuals detained early Saturday to assist in investigations regarding several police reports lodged against Sarawak Report editor, Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

All three were released later that evening.
